Alumni Game Set For Saturday
Feb. 29, 2008
MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball program will hold its annual Alumni Game Saturday afternoon. The contest will begin at 4 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Arena, prior to the Panthers' Saturday contest with UIC that starts at 7 p.m. Admission to the Alumni Game is free. A number of former Panthers are still playing professional basketball and thus will be unavailable for the alumni contest. In fact, at last count, 11 UWM players were either still playing or had recently played professionally. Topping that list is Clay Tucker, whose recent transfer from Siviglia Wear in Italy to BC Khimky Moscow made big news in Europe. Tucker was leading Italian Seria A in scoring when he was transferred, with his new club fighting for the Russian Superleague championship and a number of European crowns. In fact, early in his BC Khimky career, Tucker has had games of 16 and 12 points while also helping his team to a key win in the round of 32 in the ULEB Cup. Meanwhile, Dylan Page continues to play for Granada in the Spanish First Division. He is currently averaging 14.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. Adrian Tigert is also playing in Spain for C.B. Blanes Almeria, averaging 9.7 points and 4.5 rebounds. Boo Davis is playing in the Italian Second Division at Carmatic Pistoai. He is averaging a team-best 18.9 points per game - just outside of the top five marks in the league - and has helped his team to a 13-8 mark. Joah Tucker is in France, playing well at Limoges CSP Elite. He is averaging 12.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. Fellow Class of 2006 member Chris Hill is in the Lithuanina First Division at Panevezys Techasas, averaging 13.8 points per game while standing second in the league in assists (5.0/game). Jason McCoy has continued his playing career most recent in the Czech Republic for BC Kolin while Ed McCants is with BC Lami-Ved Kormend of the Hungarian A Division.
Among other Panthers who have recently played professionally, Shaun Fountain was last with the Pittsburgh franchise in the Continental Basketball Association while Nate Mielke helped Defensor Sporting Club of Uruguay to an 18-5 mark. Jose Winston also played in Germany earlier this season. |
