UWM Soccer Team Scheduled To Start Spring Season March 8

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team opens its spring schedule with four games March 8. The Panthers will begin the spring slate at the Madison Indoor Tournament with games against the Minnesota Thunder, Green Bay and two squads from Wisconsin. This will be the third-straight year that UWM has opened against the Thunder, an A-League Team from the USL. Last year, the Panthers won the opener, 2-0. The Panthers and Thunder get things going at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 8. The second game versus Green Bay starts at 4:30 p.m., the Wisconsin "Red" squad at 6 p.m. and the Wisconsin "White" squad at 7:30 p.m. "We are looking forward to getting back at it," UWM head coach Jon Coleman said. "You can only kick yourselves for so long. It will be a very competitive spring to help develop the 2008 squad." Three weeks later, Milwaukee will hit the road to take on Western Illinois, playing March 29 at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19 brings two games against state schools, with UWM traveling to Mequon to take on Concordia at 10 a.m. and UW-Whitewater at 11:45 a.m. The third annual Bob Summy Memorial will be on the slate next, taking place at Valley Fields against Marquette April 27 in the First Annual Wisconsin Cup. The event will feature four teams, as Green Bay and Wisconsin will also join in. The Panthers and Golden Eagles square-off at 10 a.m. and will be followed by the Phoenix and Badgers. The teams to drop game one will meet at 3 p.m. and the winners will play at 4 p.m. "This is the third year of the Bob Summy Memorial, which alternates between UWM and Marquette," Coleman said. "It is a great opportunity to pay tribute to a great person." The Panthers then wrap-up the spring with games against in-state rivals UW-Oshkosh and one more match against Green Bay in Oshkosh, Wis., May 3. 2008 MILWAUKEE PANTHERS SPRING SCHEDULE
