MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Jan. 24, 2008) - Coming off a first-place showing Jan. 19 to open the 2008 indoor season, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team returns to action this weekend at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational in Madison.

The meet gets underway Friday with the start of multi-events. The remainder of the events are scheduled for Saturday.

The Panthers opened the season with a first-place showing at the Division I Invitational Jan. 19 in Kenosha, Wis. Milwaukee won eight events on the day to take top honors among the eight teams competing.

Senior Larry Ehrhorn paced the team with a pair of wins, sweeping the eight throw and shot put events. He was then named the Horizon League Athlete of the Week.

UWM also swept both relay events run at the meet, setting a school record in the 4x200m relay in the process. Senior Lynn Koepke, junior Patrick Casey, sophomore Tyler Bucholz and freshman Jared Foerch combined on a school-record 4x200m time of 1:29.86. The previous mark was 1:31.21 set last season at this same meet. Bucholz (400m) and Koepke (200m), who were on the previous record-breaking relay, added individual wins on the day as well.

Ehrhorn won both throwing events at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational last season on his way to a strong start of the season. The shot put win was his third to start the year, while his weight throw was his second-straight.

While those were the only two UWM wins on the day, it was still memorable for Adam Schleis, who broke the school record in the 60m hurdles. He ran a time of 8.21 to clip the record of 8.22. He would then go on to lower the standard to 8.10 later in the season.

Milwaukee is in action next at the Northern Iowa Classic, Feb. 2, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
