Bucholz Named Horizon League Athlete Of The Week
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Feb. 5, 2008) - Sophomore Tyler Bucholz of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team has been named the Horizon League Athlete of the Week for Feb. 4, the league office announced today. While this is the first honor of Bucholz's career, he is already the fourth Panther to earn the honor this season. Senior Larry Ehrhorn was honored Jan. 14, alongside junior Beth Zimmerman on the women's side. Then, last week, junior Jenni Saarinen garnered the women's award. Bucholz had a historic weekend at the Northern Iowa Invitational, winning the 200m along the way. He ran a time of 21.89 for the top spot in the event. The time is third in school history, just 0.04 seconds off the second-best and 0.20 seconds off the school record. He also competed in the preliminaries of the 60m, running a time of 7.04 for the third-best time in school history in that event as well. Bucholz placed eighth in the prelims to qualify for the finals, but did not compete in the final heat. The Panthers are back in action Saturday at the Akron Open.
