May 21, 2008

MILWAUKEE - Junior Adam Schleis of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team has been named the Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week for May 21, the league office announced today.

Schleis was previously named the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week in late February during the indoor season. The awards honor athletic and academic achievements and encompass every sport the league sponsors.

He won the 110-meter hurdles at the Cardinal Twilight Saturday in Louisville, Ky. His time of 14.42 was just shy of his own school record of 14.40 he set last week.

In the classroom, Schleis is a history major and boasts a 3.36 GPA. He has been named to the league's academic all-league team three times, as well as to the league's academic honor roll.
