Panthers Announce Dates For Summer College Identification And Development Camps

Milwaukee to host three camps at Engelmann Field

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (March 12, 2008) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team will host three camps this summer from July 21-27, head coach Michael Moynihan announced today.

The Panthers will host two camps July 21-25, with Junior Panthers Academy sessions in the morning and a Premier Select session each afternoon. UWM will then host its College Identification and Development Camp July 25-27.

All camps will be held at Engelmann Field, home of Panther Soccer.

Junior Panthers Academy is a co-ed camp for players ages 8-10 and runs from 8:30-11 a.m. Milwaukee's Premier Select Camp will be from 1-3:30 p.m. each day and is open to girl players ages 11-14, or entering grades 5-8. The cost for each camp is $115 and will be based around age-appropriate training and fun games with the focus on developing the technical skills of the young players. Campers for each camp will be divided into groups by grade. Panther staff, current and former players will be at all sessions. Also, each camper will receive a Puma t-shirt and ball.

If you want to play college soccer and believe that you have what it takes, Milwaukee's College Identification and Development camp is the camp for you. The camp is available for overnight stay or daily commuters, with residents paying $350 and daily commuters $275. All sessions will be instructed by the UWM Women's Soccer staff. You will train using many of the same methods and facilities that the Panthers use, interact daily with current and former players and live on campus in the Sandburg Dorms (the same dorms that students live in during the school year).

This camp will give you a taste of what college soccer is all about from technical expectations, tactical ideas, and pre and post training environments. Video sessions will be done during the weekend to analyze decision-making within the full-sided game. There will also be specialized goalkeeping training sessions each day.

There is limited enrollment to this camp to ensure quality coaching and evaluation. Camp check in will begin July 25 at 3 p.m. There will be one session Friday night, three on Saturday and two on Sunday. Camp checkout will then be at 3 p.m. on Sunday. One full Puma kit (shirt, shorts, and socks), as well as a second shirt, and ball will be given to each camper.
