UWM Divers Wrap Up Action At 14th Annual Miami (OH) Invitational
Dec. 1, 2007
OXFORD, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee diving teams concluded action at the 14th Annual Miami (OH) Invitational Saturday, competing in the women's one-meter and men's three-meter diving events. Despite competing with just its diving team at the invitational, the women placed 12th out of 16 teams and the men were 11th out of 13 teams. "It was an awesome weekend for our diving teams," UWM diving coach Todd Hill said. "This was a very good progress report for where we are at right now. It made a statement to the rest of the Horizon League teams that we are the ones to shoot for. Ashley Hall dove out of her mind and placed third today with a personal-best score and Rachel Grimm was sixth - also with a personal-best. P.J. (Rongitsch) was third and had an exceptional meet, missing just one dive." Hall highlighted the night for the Panthers, placing third in the one-meter competition with a season-high point total of 269.90. Not only was it a personal-best, but it gave Hall an NCAA Zone-qualifying score on the one-meter board. Grimm also made the finals, finishing sixth with 235.80 points. Milwaukee had four other divers in the action, with freshman Kelsey George 15th (201.60), freshman Lauren Roy 17th (199.25), senior Megan McLoone 18th (196.95) and freshman Michelle Kornder 28th (168.80). On the men's side, sophomore Patrick Rongitsch was the top finisher for UWM, making the finals and placing third overall with a point total of 312.10.
Freshman teammates Josh Lindquist and Nick DeWitt also dove at the meet, with Lindquist taking 14th in the prelims at 205.10 and DeWitt 15th at 197.75. The diving team returns to action at the UWM home opener Friday, hosting South Dakota State at 6:30 p.m. at the Klotsche Natatorium. |
