Hall And Rongitsch Sweep League Diver Of The Week Awards
Oct. 17, 2007
MILWAUKEE - Junior Ashley Hall and sophomore Patrick Rongitsch of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee diving teams have been named the Female and Male Horizon League Diver of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. After having to sit out last season due to NCAA transfer rules, Hall made a nice contribution in her first meet as a Panther, leading the team in the both diving events against Wisconsin. She took third on the one-meter (263.75) and third on the three-meter (275.55). This is the first award for the Panther women this year after winning league swimmer or diver accolades 12 times last season. Rongitsch recorded two second-place finishes against Wisconsin in UWM's season opener last Friday. On the one-meter board, he totaled 318.75, topping his career-high of 277.60. He also finished with a career-best 335.70 points in the three-meter event. Both scores were above NCAA Zone-qualifying standards. This is the first award for the Panther men this year after winning league swimmer or diver accolades twice last season. The team continues the season with its league opener at Wright State Friday.
