MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to a tough Northern Iowa team Friday night at the Paley Tennis Center.

UWM's lone singles victory came in the #6 slot, where Jenna Felsher captured a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Ashton Schwerin. The Panthers (5-4) also got a victory at #2 doubles from Sammi Schoen and Ashley Schoneman, but could not pull out the doubles point.

Schoen, the reigning Horizon League Player of the Week, almost claimed another singles win, falling in a three-set battle in the #4 slot.

"Northern Iowa is just a very solid and deep team," UWM head coach Matt McCaskill said. "It was good to see Jenna step up and claim a win at #6 singles. Sammi also continues to play well and she nearly pulled out another singles win."

The Panthers return to action Saturday by hosting Butler at the Paley Tennis Center. Warmups start at 5 p.m. with play beginning at about 6 p.m.
