Panthers Host Valpo In Key League Contest
April 2, 2008
MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team starts the final month of the season with a home match against Valparaiso Saturday. The Panthers (10-8, 2-1 Horizon) already own league wins over Detroit and Wright State and have their sights set on a best-ever top-four finish in league play. Plus, UWM's 10 overall victories are already the third most in the school's Division I history. Saturday's contest begins at approximately 5 p.m. at the Paley Tennis Center. A number of individuals have been busy securing their spots in the UWM's record book. Freshman Jenna Felsher now has 20 singles wins this season, setting a new single-season school record. Meanwhile, fellow freshman Sammi Schoen has 16 singles victories, which is tied for third on UWM's single-season Division I list. The biggest difference of late for the Panthers, though, is likely sophomore Kari Kastenholz. She has won six-straight singles matches, including a pair of wins at #2 singles last weekend. The Crusaders are 2-5 this spring and have yet to play a Horizon League match in their first season in the league. That will change when Valpo hosts Butler Friday before heading to Milwaukee Saturday. The Crusaders will also play at Green Bay Sunday. Kim Sajevic is 2-2 at #1 singles and 2-1 at #2 singles to help lead the Crusaders. Molly Keifer also has four dual wins at #2 and #3 singles.
