![]() Senior Warren Thompson Broke a Pair of Individual Pool Records and Garnered SAAC Co-Athlete of the Month for January |

DAYTON, OH - The Wright State Student Athlete Advisory Council has voted Co-Athlete's of the Week for the first time in its history. The swimming and diving program brought home the awards, as Warren Thompson and Jessica Weidert were named WSU's Co-Athlete's of the Month for January.
Thompson, a senior from Bocksburg, South Africa posted three individual victories and a pair of relay victories in three meets during the month of January. Thompson stepped up and set a pair of WSU Natatorium records in the 200 and 100 yard Butterfly events. Thompson, who broke his own mark in the 200 Fly event, bested the 100 Fly record by almost one full second. The WSU 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of LeRoux Pelser, Thompson, Zach Fisher, T.J. Collins then closed out the meet with a record setting performance. The quartet posted an event winning time of 1:23.62, clipping the only record by only 27-tenths of a second.
He also posted a win against Cleveland State in the 200 yd. Butterfly to help guide the Raiders to a victory. Thompson was named the Horizon League Swimmer of the Week on January 28, his second award of the season, and will head into the Horizon League Championships with the top time in the 100 and 200 yd. Butterfly events.
Weidert helped WSU to a 2-1 record in dual meets during the month of January and honored twice by the Horizon League for her work in the pool and in the classroom. Weidert garnered her second Swimmer of the Week honors this season on January 22 and was named the league's Scholar Athlete of the Week on January 29.
In the pool, Weidert kept her undefeated record alive in the 200 Breaststroke event as she closed out her home career by breaking her own pool record in the 200 yard Breaststroke event. The Spokane, Wash. native posted a winning time of 2:21.06, besting her previous record by more than one second against Xavier. She also posted a victory at Ohio State and won a pair of events against Cleveland State.
