DAYTON, OH - Records fell on Saturday afternoon at the WSU Natatorium as the Wright State men's and women's swimming and diving teams posted a pair of victories over Xavier. The men's team broke three pool records on their way to a 156-102 victory and the women broke one pool record in their 159-99 win against the Musketeers.
On the men's side of things, Wright State posted a victory in 12 of the 14 individual events and swept the two relay races against Xavier. WSU claimed the top two spots in five individual events and saw a pair of swimmers and diver Caleb Nettleton post multiple victories in the meet.
Nine Raiders posted wins in the meet and five of the six seniors on the team posted a victory in the meet. Micah Belew, Aaron Eckstein, Scott Lang and Warren Thompson each posted individual victories and Graham Parker was a member of a winning relay team.
Thompson stepped up and set a pair of WSU Natatorium records in the 200 and 100 yard Butterfly events. Thompson, who broke his own mark in the 200 Fly event, bested the 100 Fly record by almost one full second. The WSU 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of LeRoux Pelser, Thompson, Zach Fisher, T.J. Collins then closed out the meet with a record setting performance. The quartet posted an event winning time of 1:23.62, clipping the only record by only 27-tenths of a second.

The women's squad posted an impressive 13 individual victories against the Musketeers and swept the two relay races on the way to their victory. Like the men's team, the WSU women swept the top two spots in five individual events and three swimmers and diver Stevi DiMasso posted multiple victories against Xavier
Jessica Weidert closed out her home career by breaking her own pool record in the 200 yard Breaststroke event. The Spokane, Wash. native posted a winning time of 2:21.06, besting her previous record by more than one second.
Eight different women's swimmers posted individual victories in the meet and seven of the seniors will leave the WSU Natatorium victorious. Brittiany Czoch, Mabel Fernandez, Catalina Martinez, Vicky Tafur and Weidert each collected individual victories. Jenny Hagen posted a victory in a relay and Kassie Schmidt was a member of both winning relay squads.
The next action for the Raiders will be on Saturday, February 2 when they travel to Cincinnati for their final dual meet of the season against the Bearcats at 1:00.
