CLEVELAND, OH - The Wright State swimming and diving teams continued to compete for the 2008 Horizon League Championships at the Busbey Natatorium on Thursday evening. The men's squad moved into first place after day two and the women fell into a tie for second place just 28 points behind.

In the meet, the men's squad didn't post any first place finishes but used eight top-ten finishes from individuals and placed second in the 400 yard medley relay. Scott Lang and LeRoux Pelser each posted runners up finishes in the 500 Free and 50 Free events respectively.

In the team standings the men's squad moved into first place after a solid performance in the pool. WSU has a total of 295 points after two days, leading by 21 points over Milwaukee. Cleveland State trails by only 55 points, followed by UIC, Green Bay and Valparaiso.

The women's meet featured another record breaking performance by Wright State. Senior Jessica Weidert posted the individual victory in the 200 yard Individual Medley with a championship record time of 2:04.16. The time in the 200 IM also sets a new school record, besting the only mark by only one tenth of a second set by Janelle Hite in 1993.

The other individual victory of the day for the Raiders was posted by freshman Krystyna Wieczerzak in the 500 Free event. The rookie's victory gives WSU a win in the 500 Free in each of the last seven years and in 12 of the last 13 overall.

On the women's side, the Green and Gold have dropped into second place behind Milwaukee. WSU trails by 28 points and is tied with Green Bay. UIC sits in fourth, followed by Youngstown State and Valparaiso. Cleveland State sits in seventh place and Butler is eighth.

WSU will return to the pool for day three of the championships on Friday and will conclude on Saturday.
