DAYTON, Ohio - The Wright State men's soccer program and head coach Mike Tracy have announced the signing of four student-athletes to National letters of intent to compete for the Raiders this fall. The recruiting class includes a pair of players from Colorado, one from Illinois and one Ohio product.
"As a coaching staff, we believe that these players can contribute quickly are we are excited about the potential for the 2008 class," Tracy said. "These student-athletes have been very successful in both the club and high school soccer scene. We believe that this is one of the most competitive recruiting classes in recent years."
Kenji Goldman will join WSU after playing four seasons for Cherry Creek High School in Englewood, Colo. The 5-foot-9 midfielder garnered All-League and All-District honors during his junior and senior seasons with CCHS. A team captain in 2007, Goldman guided his team to a 10-5-2 overall mark in the Centennial League. Goldman played his club soccer for Real Colorado where he won the 2007 Colorado State Cup, the 2007 Region IV Far West Regional. Real Colorad also placed third overall at the 2007 National Championships. Goldman joins Real Colorado teammate Jabari Velinor as one of the newest additions to the Wright State squad.
John Gulden will join the Raiders after guiding Wickliffe High School to the OHSAA State Championship game during his junior campaign. Gulden has been touted as a solid defender with the ability to retain possession and distribute the ball. He was a First Team All-Conference player the past two season and garnered All-District honors during his junior and senior campaign. John helped guide Wickliffe to a school record for wins during his senior season with the team. The 5-foot-9 defender played his club soccer for coach Branko Segota with the Segota Select.
Tim Holmer will join the Green and Gold after helping James Conant High School to a runner-up finish in the Mid-Suburban League. The 5-foot-10 defender tallied a pair of goals and dished out three assists in one of Chicago's most competitive conferences. Holmer will bring an attacking style to Wright State along with his strong defensive abilities. He was the recipient of the Mid-Suburban League All-Academic Senior Athlete Award and the Illinois High School Association Scholastic Achievement Award. Holmer currently plays his club soccer for the Sockers FC and coach David Richardson.
