May 5, 2008
Wright State freshman guard Sheylani Peddy was one of 15 freshman named to the GBallMag.com Young All-America Team, it was announced recently.
Peddy, who was the Horizon League Newcomer of the Year as well as being selected to both the First Team and the All-Defensive Team, averaged 16.7 points per game, which was good for third among all Division I freshmen, trailing just Maya Moore of Connecticut (17.8) and Jantel Lavender of Ohio State (17.6).
Peddy also ranked 13th in steals per game at 3.2 per contest, making her the top freshman in that category, and was 29th in field goal percentage at .539, putting her sixth among freshman overall and the leader at the guard position.
Peddy scored a season-high 31 points against North Dakota State in being named to the Cal Poly Holiday Beach Classic All-Tournament Team in late November and matched that total in the Horizon League Championship game versus Cleveland State, resulting her being named to the All-Tournament Team.
