YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Wright State women's track and field squad opened the 2008 Horizon League Championships at Youngstown State with a record setting performance. Nicole Kamann set a new school mark in the long jump, while teammate Natalie Hopwood placed tenth in the 10,000 meter run.
Kamann posted a 13th place finish in the long jump, but with her leap of 4.99 meters, set a new school record. She bested the old mark of 4.80 meters held by Jamie Page by 0.19 meters. Senior Sierra Crayton also bested the mark, finishing 14th in the event, with a jump of 4.83 meters.
Hopwood placed tenth in the 10,000 meter run with a season-best time of 39:54.00. The freshman has posted the top time in the 10,000 meter run all season for the Green and Gold.
The Raiders will continue to compete on day two at the Horizon League Championships, hosted by Youngstown State University.
