WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (15-19) couldn't hold off a late surge by the Western Carolina Catamounts (12-30) in a 10-2 loss at South Park Field Wednesday afternoon. After holding on to a 1-2 lead through the first three innings, the Lady Rams gave up nine unanswered runs to the Catamounts in the final three innings of the game to end the contest with the 10-2 loss.
The Lady Rams were able to get some hits in the loss, totaling five hits in the contest, but were unable to hold off a Western Carolina team that racked up 13 hits in the contest. WSSU junior infielder Devyn Gillette led the WSSU attack, going 2-for-2 from the plate. Lady Ram freshman infielder Brittany Hull was 1-for-2 from the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
