BLACKSBURG, VA - While the sprinters took the stage on day one of the Virginia Tech Challenge, day two set the stage for the Lady Ram distance and middle distance runners. In a similar fashion, while the WSSU newcomers dominated the headlines on day one, the WSSU veterans returned with some great performances on day two.

WSSU senior Irene Jeptolo had the best overall finish of the day, placing 15th in the women's 3000m run with a time of 10:37.19 in the event. The effort continued Jeptolo's strong performances dating back to her great cross country season. She also had a strong performance, finishing 36th in the women's one-mile run in a time of 5:42.54. Junior Tomita Ferguson finished three places behind Jeptolo in a time of 5:53.53

Sophomore Javonna Brown finished 50th in the women's 400m dash in a time of 1:00.24. WSSU freshman Ashley Fraser also had a strong finish in the women's 600m run in a time of 1:42.27.

The meet wrapped up the indoor season for the Lady Rams and the squad will head into the outdoor season when the team takes part in the Florida A&M Relays in Tallahassee, FL on March 6th.
