Senior Brian Schupp Named Second Team All-South Central Region
May 14, 2008
CANYON, Texas - After finishing up a tremendous four year career at West Texas A&M, senior Brian Schupp has been recognized for his accomplishments on the baseball diamond with a spot on the Second Team of the Daktronics South Central All-Region team. Schupp became one of the most feared hitters in the Lone Star Conference this season, ranking third in the LSC in home runs (19), and third in slugging percentage (.737) while starting all 52 games for the Buffs at second base. Already this postseason, Schupp has been honored with a spot on the All-LSC second team as a utility player. Throughout his four years in Canyon, Schupp has also put his mark on the West Texas A&M record books as well. Schupp's 19 home runs this season places him tied for first place with Ben Handgartner ('01) for most homers in a season. Joining Schupp on the All-South Central Region team are 28 other student-athletes from the LSC. The LSC was also awarded the Region Player of the Year, Mike Elkerson from Abilene Christian and the Region Pitcher of the Year, Clint Straka from Central Oklahoma. Schupp's all-region award is just the sixth in WTAMU baseball history, as fellow senior Justin Graham also garnered second team honors last season. |
