CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M men's soccer team scored twice just four minutes into the match as the Buffs rolled to a 4-0 victory over Missouri Southern at The Pitch on Friday afternoon, giving head coach Butch Lauffer his 200th career win. Sophomore Aaron Thornton found the back of the net twice as the men improved to 12-2 on the season and 5-1 in the Southwest Soccer Conference.

Sophomore Jacob Fynboe Jensen scored first for WTAMU when freshman Ben Everson sent a long ball from the left side near midfield and Jensen challenged Missouri Southern goalkeeper Jon Hansen one-on-one. Hansen dove and got a hand on the ball, but Jensen's shot had enough power to hit the back of the net, giving the Buffs a 1-0 lead after only 3:15 had come off the clock.

Thornton scored his first goal of the match just 41 seconds later, heading the ball just inside the near post off of a cross from sophomore Freddy Montes.

Jensen tallied an assist on the Buffs' next goal, sending a long ball down the right side to sophomore Brad Williamson, who beat Hansen one-on-one to the near side to put the Buffs ahead by a three-goal margin.

Thornton added an insurance goal in the 67th minute, heading the ball to the near post again, this time off of a corner kick from the right side from junior Espanho Da Costa.

In goal, freshman Shane Taylor made four saves in 90:00 minutes of play.

Hansen made nine saves and allowed four goals for Missouri Southern, who fell to 3-8-2 on the season, 0-4-1 in SSC play.

WTAMU's next match is Sunday as they host Northeastern State at The Pitch at 1 p.m. It will be the Buffs' last home match of the regular season and there will be a presentation at the beginning of the game to honor the squad's four seniors.
