Two Buffs Receive Weekly Southwest Soccer Conference Honors
Oct. 17, 2007
CANYON, Texas - For the third week in a row, two West Texas A&M men's soccer players have reaped weekly Southwest Soccer Conference honors. Freshman forward Ben Everson and freshman goalkeeper Shane Taylor were named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their solid play last week. Everson scored the first goal in both of WTAMU's victories - a 2-1 double overtime win over UT-Permian Basin and a 5-3 win over SSC rival Eastern New Mexico -- increasing his season total to 12 during his first year in Canyon. This week's honor is Everson's second this season. Taylor was named the Defensive Player of The Week for the third consecutive week and the fourth time this season after making five saves (.625) and allowing just three goals (0.98) as he helped the Buffaloes improve to 11-2 on the season and 4-1 in SSC play. The Buffs host two SSC match-ups this weekend at The Pitch, facing Missouri Southern on Oct. 19, and Northeastern State on Oct. 21. |
