Lady Buffs' Face Texas Woman's in Season Finale

CANYON, Texas - After clinching the Lone Star Conference South Division regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming conference tournament earlier this week, the No. 16 West Texas A&M women's hoops team travels to Denton, Texas, to face Texas Woman's in its regular season finale. Their win on Wednesday over Abilene Christian lengthened the Lady Buffs's home game win streak to a record 45 consecutive contests and improved their overall record to 22-4 and 12-1 in league play. Also during WT's most recent victory, junior All-American Emily Brister scored 25 points en route to setting a new school record for career points, with 1,993, as she surpassed former Lady Buff Celeste Stevenson's 1,988 points. Heading into the Texas Woman's game, Brister needs seven points to be the first Lady Buff in program history to hit the 2,000-point mark. Brister leads the Lady Buffs and the LSC in scoring as she is averaging 21.6 points per game, while fellow classmate Courtney Lee has recorded an average of 11.7 points per game. Junior Jamie Dreiling is second on the team in rebounds, with 128 (4.9 rpg) while freshman Joni Unruh is third with 113 (4.5 rpg). West Texas A&M leads the conference in scoring defense, holding opponents to an average of 55.9 points per game while also averaging a 16-point advantage in its victories. Meanwhile, Texas Woman's is averaging 65.4 points per game as compared to WT's 71.9 points per game. Up next for the Lady Buffs - following their match-up against TWU - the Lone Star Conference Tournament will be held in Bartlesville, Okla., from March 5-9.
