Box Score

CANYON, Texas - The visiting Saint Edwards Hilltoppers took both games of a doubleheader from the West Texas A&M softball team on Saturday at Lady Buff yard, downing WT by the scores of 10-5 and 7-5 in front 288 fans. The setbacks drop the Lady Buffs' overall record to 22-31 on the year while the Hilltoppers improve to 34-12.

West Texas A&M softball is back in action on Tuesday when it makes the trip South on I-27 to battle Lubbock Christian in a doubleheader.

Game One Recap (St. Edwards 10, West Texas A&M 5)
Taking a 5-4 lead into the seventh inning, things came unraveled for the Lady Buffs as the Hilltoppers plated six runs in the visitor half of the final inning.

Junior centerfielder Rachel Cavallaro went 3-for-4 at the plate, while junior Jessica Ruzicki homered for the fifth time this season.

Freshman Shannon O'Dea (9-13) was tagged with the loss, allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits in the complete game effort.

Games Two Recap (St. Edwards 7, West Texas A&M 5)
After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning and a half of game two, the Lady Buff offense exploded for five runs in the bottom of the second to take control of the contests.

Junior Erin Hartigan singled to lead off the inning and classmate Breanna Adams reached in the next at bat on a Hilltopper error. Freshman Christie Russell plated the first WT run of the inning with a double to left field and another score came in on a field's choice from leadoff batter Amber Farr.

A ground out from Ruzicki in the next at bat scored Russell from third and two batters later Farr was able to score on Audrey Wallace's sixth home run of the season, a two-run shot to right center field.

Unfortunately for WT, the five run outburst would be the only runs of the contest for the Lady Buffs and a four-run fifth from St. Edward's sent senior pitcher Andrea Renteria to her eighth loss of the season.
