COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Wyoming senior Shaylee Babbitt and Air Force senior David Lissy have been selected as the Mountain West Conference Women's and Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.

Babbitt ran the 55-meter hurdles in 7.84 seconds to take the meet title at the Robert Shine Invitational last weekend held in Laramie, Wyo. Her performance ties four-time All-American fellow Cowgirl Shauna Smith for the venue record at the War Memorial Field House, and ranks as the second-fastest time in the event in Wyoming history. Hailing from Yoder, Wyo., Babbitt's time was a career-best and her converted 60-meter time (8.45) now ranks first in the league.

Lissy, from Sandpoint, Idaho, won the shot put while also competing in the Robert Shine Invitational. His 57'-0.75" (17.39m) throw was a career-best and put him in first place for the event in the league heading into the Conference championships this weekend. The mark was also long enough to move into fourth place all-time in Air Force history.

This marks Lissy's first career weekly honor and the first time an Air Force student-athlete has won the award this season. Babbitt also receives her first career weekly honor and represents Wyoming's only female student-athlete to earn the award this season.
