Wyoming's Eric Coxbill was one of the lone bright spots for the Cowboys on Friday night as UW lost their second Western Wrestling Conference match of the season to North Dakota State 29-10 in the Bison Sports Arena in Fargo. Wyoming falls to 1-7-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the WWC, while North Dakota State improves to 9-8-0 overall and 3-1-0 in WWC action.

"We had several close matches tonight that didn't go our way," UW head coach Steven Suder said. "We just came up short and had some guys that couldn't finish their shots and it cost us some important matches."

Coxbill (165), a Wyoming junior, earned his 18th victory and fifth major decision of the season defeating Mike Quamme 19-6. Coxbill is now 1-1 in the WWC and 18-10 overall.

"Eric is beginning to believe in himself and it is showing in his performances," Suder continued. "He keeps getting better and he needs to continue proving to himself that he can compete against these opponents."

UW's Cole Dallaserra (149) wrestled up a weight and earned his ninth victory of the season defeating Andrey Patselov 7-4. Dallaserra earned an escape and a takedown in the third period to seal the victory.

Wyoming's Jason Still earned his first victory of the season defeating Tyler Hemmesch 7-2. Still scored on a reversal and a takedown in the second period and then capped off his decision with another takedown in the third period.

"We fought hard tonight including Cole wrestling up a weight and Jason earning his first victory of the season," Suder said. "These are the kinds of things we have to build on to keep getting better. We have the opportunity to make some things right tomorrow when we face South Dakota State. I think we match up better against them as a team then we did against North Dakota and we look forward to our next match."

The Cowboys will head south to Brookings, S.D. to take on the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. Last season, the Pokes defeated SDSU 31-12 in Laramie winning seven of the ten matches, including one fall and one major decision.
