UW Wrestling Adds Another to Solid Recruiting Class

April 21, 2008

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming head wrestling coach Steven Suder announced Monday the signing of Jimmy Eggemeyer from Kodiak High School in Kodiack, Alaska. Eggemeyer will attend the University of Wyoming and compete with the wrestling team for the 2008-09 season.

Eggemeyer was a two-time Alaskan State Champion and placed second at the prestigious Reno Tournament of Champions, his only loss was to the top ranked wrestler in the country in the finals last season. He won 145 matches during his high school career and only lost one match in his final two seasons. He was a three-time Freestyle/Greco Roman state champion and was a four-time participant in the Fargo Nationals. Eggemeyer also excelled in cross country, football, basketball and track where he earned several letters and was a second team all-conference quarterback. He was a member of the honor roll all four years and will graduate 30th in his class with a 3.67 GPA.

Eggemeyer is expected to wrestle at 125/133 pounds for the Cowboys.

"Jimmy wrestles with a lot of intensity," Suder said. "He sets a good pace and is exciting to watch for that reason. His work ethic, talent, and character are qualities our program is looking for."
