Feb. 13, 2008

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Adrianne Ross scored 21 points and Helen Roden added 15 to help TCU win its fifth straight game, beating No. 22 Wyoming 73-59 on Wednesday night.

TCU (15-9, 8-2 Mountain West) had lost 62-45 to Wyoming on Jan. 12. It was the fewest points the Lady Frogs had scored in a game since 1998.

But the Lady Frogs nearly had that total by halftime as they stormed out to a 39-24 advantage and led by at least 13 in the second half. TCU has won 10 of its last 12.

Wyoming (19-4, 7-3) lost for the third time in four games after starting the season 18-1, which is the school's best-ever start.

Dominique Sisk scored 16 points for Wyoming.

The Cowgirls hit just 20-of-58 (35 percent) shots from the floor.

Lorie Butler-Rayford scored 12 points and Helena Sverrisdottir grabbed 12 rebounds for TCU, which led by as much as 23 in the second half.

The Lady Frogs shot 27 percent and had no players score in double digits in their loss to the Cowgirls last month. Wyoming came into the game with the nation's fifth-best scoring defense.

TCU hit 14-of-27 shots in the opening half as it jumped out to its 15-point halftime cushion. Roden, who had only scored eight points her past three games, sparked the Lady Frogs by scoring 13 in the first half.

The Lady Frogs took the lead for good with a 12-2 run. Roden capped the surge with a 3-pointer and two free throws that put TCU ahead 23-13 with 7:42 left in the first half.

Roden then hit consecutive 3-pointers to stretch TCU's advantage to 35-22. Ross' layup put the Lady Frogs ahead 39-24 in the final minute of the first half.

Wyoming scored the first basket of the second half but couldn't cut into TCU's lead after that.

Notes/Quotes

"The transition baskets were a big key in the game," said UW head coach Joe Legerski. "When we missed a shot and then would get an easy basket on the other end that a factor. TCU played excellent. They came out and were the aggressor."

The Cowgirls shot just 5-19 (.263) from beyond the arc.

TCU was 27-54 (.500) from the field and 6-11 (.545) from beyond the arc.

Wyoming will be back at home as they host the Air Force Academy Falcons, on Saturday, February 16. The game is set to tip off at 2:00 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium.
