DETROIT - The Wayne State baseball team (19-11, 14-1 GLIAC) remained undefeated at home this season following a 13-5 win over Saginaw Valley State (19-10, 7-6 GLIAC) in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.

Matthew Williams (Detroit, Mich./Royal Oak Shrine) and Michael Wiseman (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) each had three hits and three runs scored, while Wiseman contributed a season-high five RBI along with his fourth home run of the year. The Warriors scored 10 of their runs on 12 hits off SVSU starter Scott Roy, who entered the game with a 6-0 record and the league's second-best ERA at 1.96.

Wayne State scored at least twice in five innings, including a three-run first frame. The Warriors were quick to erase a one-run deficit with a two-run single by Wiseman and a sacrifice fly by Brett Witczak (Hudsonville, Mich.).

After SVSU made it a 3-2 game in the third, Adam Kaminski (Clinton Twp., Mich./Mt. Clemens) singled to right to plate Williams, and Wiseman scored on a fielder's choice to give WSU a 5-2 lead.

Charlie Thomas scored on a passed ball to cut SVSU's deficit to three and, despite a two-run single by Williams, the Cardinals answered with two runs in the fifth.

Wayne State poured on six more runs over the final two innings, however, to seal the win. Charlie Dunneback (Lansing, Mich./Grand Ledge) singled in a run and scored on Scott Martin's (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) two-run homer to center in the fifth, while a three-run shot to left center by Wiseman put the game out of reach for the visitors.

WSU starter John Kessick (Niles, Mich.) struck out five over three innings before leaving with an injury. Josh Lewis (Harper Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North) worked two innings in relief for the win (2-3), and Robby Foscarin (Toronto, Ont./M.P. St. Joseph) pitched two scoreless innings to finish it.
