Box Score

DETROIT - The Wayne State baseball team (21-11, 16-1 GLIAC) remained undefeated at home this season following a 7-4 victory over 10th-ranked Grand Valley State (25-8, 11-4 GLIAC) in the first game of a twinbill Saturday afternoon.

Anthony Bass (Trenton, Mich.) tossed a complete game and earned his sixth win of the year as the Warriors snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Lakers dating back to 2005.

Bass surrendered solo home runs in the first and third innings, but Wayne State strung together three two-run innings and added another score in the fifth.

A squeeze bunt by Charlie Dunneback (Lansing, Mich./Grand Ledge) plated Adam Kaminski (Clinton Twp., Mich./Mt. Clemens), and an RBI single by Scott Martin (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) brought in Brett Witczak (Hudsonville, Mich.) as the Warriors took a 2-1 lead in the second.

After two balks by GVSU starter Nick Beach led to a run in the third, Witczak drove in Michael Wiseman (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) with a base hit, while a two-run double by Martin in the fourth made it a 6-2 game.

Wayne State made it a 7-2 game on an RBI single by Dunneback in the fifth, and despite giving up two runs in the seventh Bass was able to shut the door on the Lakers.
