DETROIT - For the second time in the last three weeks, Wayne State University junior Anthony Bass (Trenton, Mich.) was named Pitcher of the Week by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Bass earned his fifth straight victory in as many appearances Saturday at Findlay, posting his second complete game shutout this season. He allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out 11, his third double-digit strikeout total of the year. Bass took a perfect game into the fifth inning as the Warriors blanked the Oilers for the first time since 2001.
He currently leads the GLIAC in opponents batting average (.200) and ranks third with a 2.36 earned run average.
The Warriors will begin a 13-game homestand Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. against Concordia. They host Saginaw Valley State for a doubleheader Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. before 10th-ranked Grand Valley State comes to Detroit for four games this weekend.
