DETROIT - The Wayne State baseball team was rewarded Monday afternoon for its success last week, as redshirt freshman Michael Wiseman (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) was named GLIAC Player of the Week and the Warriors cracked the top 30 of the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper national poll.

Wiseman batted .478 (11-23), posted a slugging percentage of .783, and collected 11 RBI and 11 runs scored as well as five walks. Highlights for the week included a 3-for-4 performance with a home run and five RBI in Wednesday's 13-5 win over Saginaw Valley State, and a 3-for-3 output with two doubles and four runs in Friday's 10-9 comeback win against Grand Valley State. Wiseman ranks ninth in the GLIAC with 32 RBI and eighth with 18 walks this season.

After putting together a 6-1 week which included three wins over then 10th-ranked GVSU, the Warriors were tabbed 27th in Monday's CBN national poll. Wayne State has been ranked only twice before in its history, earning a spot in the top 25 of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll in 2005 as well as last season.

Wayne State will host Tiffin for a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. before Northwood comes to Detroit this weekend for a four-game GLIAC series.
