COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Wayne State golf team finished in eighth place at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational this weekend at Otter Creek Golf Course.
The Warriors shot a team score of 303 in Saturday's first round and 307 on Sunday for a total of 610. Grand Valley State won the event with a score of 588 (292-296).
Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) was the top finisher for Wayne State, as he tied for fourth place at two over par (72-74--146).
Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) and Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) each tied for 24th with scores of 153, while Jack Mitroka (Riverview, Mich.) and Michael Wouters (Sterling Hts., Mich./Henry Ford II) were a stroke behind in a tie for 30th.
Eric Johnson (Marquette, Mich.) shot 79 both days to tie for 54th, and Bryan Lynch (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) finished in a tie for 69th (83-86--169).
Wayne State will compete at the second of three Great Lakes Regional events next weekend, held at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky.
