FINDLAY, Ohio - The Wayne State University men's golf team is in fifth place after Monday's opening round of the 2008 NCAA Division II Super Regionals, held at Red Hawk Run Golf Club.

Ferris State is at the top of the leaderboard (298), while three teams - Grand Valley State, Findlay, and Northern Kentucky - are tied for second (300). The Warriors posted a team score of 301 in the first round.

Redshirt sophomore Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) leads the field of 45 golfers after carding a four-under par 68, one shy of the school record for 18 holes. He is one of just two players under par for the day, along with NKU's Danny Lewis who is two strokes back.

Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) shot a five-over 77 to tie for 20th, Eric Johnson (Marquette, Mich.) and Brett Hudson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) each shot 78 to tie for 28th, and Bryan Lynch (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) is in a tie for 42nd after posting a score of 84.
