Toledo, Ohio - Despite a solid effort, the Wayne State men's tennis team's saw its four-game win streak snapped as the Warriors dropped their second match of the day, 5-2, to Division I opponent Toledo.

Wane State (6-4, 4-0 GLIAC) lost 2-of-3 doubles matches to UT (14-9, 2-0 MAC) but only fell behind 1-0 in the match due to the Division I scoring system where two doubles wins only count as one point. The No. 1 tandem of freshman Johan Maubacq (Bussy St. Georges, France) and senior Donavon Mitchell (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) gave WSU its best chance for a win but lost in a tie-breaker 8-7 (7-4) to Sven Burus and Chris Clark.

The Warriors tired to mount a rally during singles play but were only able to pull out two victories. Sophomore Antoine Marenaud (Bordeaux, France/Camille Jullian) extended his winning streak to a team-high eight matches with a hard fought 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win over Burus at the No. 2 position. Freshman Eric Szyzlowski (Canton, Mich./Canton) also defeated Gursher Harika in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, at the No. 5 spot. Mitchell dropped a tough 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, decision to N. Likitkumchorn snapping his eight-match win streak at the No. 3 position. Marbacq fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, to Jared Miller ending his six-match winning streak while senior Alejandro Gomez (Comitan Chiapas, Mexico/Instituto Moderno Comitan) also saw his seven-match streak come to an end falling 6-4, 6-4, to Wade Ward.

WSU returns to conference play with a dual match against in state rival Grand Valley State on Friday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m.
