Kissimmee, Fla. - The Wayne State University softball team (4-4 overall) blanked 26th-ranked Shippensburg, 4-0, on Saturday morning in its first game of the 2008 Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee.
WSU senior pitcher Molly Yetman faced 24 batters, three over the minimum, in recording the fourth no-hitter of her Warrior career. She retired the first eight batters before a two-out walk in the third. Yetman also allowed a two-out walk in the fifth and a one-out walk in the sixth to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Offensively, the Warriors scored twice in the bottom of the first. Amanda Van't Wout had a one-out single up the middle and Sarah Berry followed with an infield single. After a ground out moved up both runners, Stephanie LeClair delivered a two-run single up the middle.
Wayne State added a single run in the fourth as LeClair laced a one-out double to right center. Sarah Teller followed with an infield single while Jaci Banton singled up the middle scoring LeClair.
LeClair went 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Berry and Banton each had two hits.
Yetman finished with 14 strikeouts, while Lori Knopf struck out two and walked one for Shippensburg.
