Final Stats

Kissimmee, Fla. - The Wayne State University softball team (4-5), ranked 31st nationally, was limited to four hits and fell to Dowling College (4-8) 5-0 Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Lions scored three times in the bottom of the first on a one-out single by Lisa Compitello and a walk to Taras Wallace. Jackie Hannan followed with a single scoring Compitello, while a pair of WSU errors led to Wallace scoring and Hannan ending at third. Kristina DeMeo's single scored pinch-runner Caitlin O'Brien.

DC added a run in the fourth on a leadoff double by DeMeo, a pair of ground outs, a walk and a double steal.

The game's final run came the next inning on a one-out singles by Compitello and Wallace, and an RBI single by DeMeo.

Nicole Abel went the distance in the circle for WSU allowing five runs with five strikeouts and two walks.

Katie Cameron struck out three and walked one for DC.

WSU had a chance to score in the third when freshman Rachel Spaccarotelli had a leadoff double. Two consecutive strikeouts preceded a walk to Amanda Van't Wout but the next batter grounded out.

The Warriors stranded five base runners to four for Dowling.

Both Stephanie LeClair and Spaccarotelli had two hits for WSU.
