Kissimmee, Fla. - The Wayne State University softball team (5-6 overall) suffered a 6-2 setback Sunday morning to 29th-ranked Southwest Minnesota State (2-1 overall).

The Mustangs scored twice in the bottom of the first, but the Warriors rallied with a pair of runs in the second. Meredith Boxberger had a leadoff single, and after an out, Lisa Seymour tripled to right scoring Boxberger. With two outs, Lindsey Perry singled scoring Seymour.

SWMSU broke the game open with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Pinch-hitter Katie Turner had a leadoff single, and Andrea Fennern reached on an error. Jessica Paczosa doubled in both runners but was thrown out at third. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases and WSU went to Lauren Warkentien replacing Nicole Abel. After a fielder's choice, Amanda Burkhart had a two-run single.

Both teams stranded eight runners in the contest.

Abel allowed eight hits in 3.1 innings with two strikeouts. Warkentien allowed two hits and no runs in 2.2 innings of relief. Amanda Johnson earned the win in relief for SWMSU by tossing five scoreless innings.

Perry went three-for-four for WSU, while Sarah Berry had two hits. Both players had a double in the contest.
