Kissimmee, Fla. - The Wayne State University softball team (8-9 overall) dropped a 5-3 decision Thursday afternoon at Central Missouri (8-10 overall) at the Rebel Spring Games.
The Jennies scored five times on three hits in the top of the third. Tracey Anderson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and a sacrifice fly by Tarese Ely-Myers brought in the second run. Following a walk which loaded the bases, Kelly Martin delivered a two-run double down the right field line. A two-out single produced the fifth run.
The Warriors answered with a three-run fifth inning. Robyn Haig, Stephanie LeClair and Sarah Teller all singled to load the bases. Jaci Banton was hit by a pitch driving in Haig. After a strikeout, Lindsey Perry laced a two-run single.
WSU's final eight batters were retired.
Nicole Abel suffered the loss allowing five runs (one earned) in 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. Lauren Warkentien did not allow a hit in the final 4.1 innings.
Megan Leonard earned the win allowing three earned runs with 10 strikeouts and no walks.
