Allendale, Mich. - The Wayne State University softball team (29-13 overall, 16-3 GLIAC) clinched a share of the GLIAC regular-season title with a 2-0 triumph at Grand Valley (26-12 overall, 11-6 GLIAC) in the opening game of Saturday's league doubleheader.

WSU senior Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont.) went the first four innings allowing just one single and one double while striking out two to earn her 22nd win of the campaign. Sophomore Nicole Abel (Kitchener, Ont.) retired all nine batters she faced for her third save of the season, which is one shy of the WSU single-season mark set by Shannon Pierce in 1996. Yetman's 22 wins is the fifth best single-season mark and is two shy of her 2007 win total.

The Warriors scored single runs in the second and the fifth.

Sarah Teller (Chesterfield Twp., Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) had a one-out double to left in the second and following a pop out, Amanda Van't Wout (Guelph, Ont.) doubled to center field plating Teller.

In the top of the fifth, Jaci Banton (Richmond Hill, Ont.) had a leadoff walk and Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) followed with a single up the middle moving Banton to third. Stephanie LeClair's (Kitchener, Ont.) infield single plated Banton with the game's final run.

GVSU's Lori Andjelich was tagged with the loss despite allowing just five hits in seven innings.

Wayne State was 3-for-15 with runners on base, while the Lakers were 0-for-3.
