Midland, Mich. - The Wayne State University softball team (31-15 overall) suffered a 2-1 setback to Saginaw Valley State (32-14 overall) in the winner's bracket final of the 2008 GLIAC Tournament.

The Cardinals grabbed a 2-0 lead three batters into the contest. WSU starter Nicole Abel (Kitchener, Ont.) struck out the first batter of the game then walked Nicole Fick on a 3-2 pitch. Stacy Kraatz, the GLIAC Player of the Year, homered to left center on a 2-2 offering.

Abel settled down after that limiting SVSU to three hits and no runs.
