Midland, Mich. - The Wayne State University softball team (32-15 overall) scored three unearned runs in its last two at bats to upend Ferris State (30-16) 3-2 in the loser's bracket championship game of the 2008 GLIAC Tournament being held at Emerson Park in Midland.

The Warriors will play Saginaw Valley at 10 a.m. on Sunday in the title game. If WSU wins, the "if necessary" championship game will take place at noon on Sunday.

FSU scored once in the top of the fourth snapping a scoreless tie. Katie Kraai had a leadoff single and moved to second on a WSU fielding error. A walk to Holly Bruntjens loaded the bases, then a close play at the plate resulted in a fielder's choice RBI for Rhea Flores.

In the bottom of the fifth WSU tied the game as Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) reached on an error and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Amanda Van't Wout (Guelph, Ont.). Sarah Berry's (Acton, Ont.) single through the left side advanced Perry to third, with Robyn Haig's (Waterloo, Ont.) RBI single through the left side plating Perry.

The Bulldogs regained the lead in the sixth. Amanda Jager walked leading off the frame with Krystle Bailey reaching on a fielder's choice. After a pop out, Flores doubled down the left field line scoring Bailey.

In the bottom of the sixth, Jaci Banton (Richmond Hill, Ont.) doubled to left center with one out. After a lineout by Laura Maiorana (Clinton Twp., Mich./Eisenhower), Perry walked on a 3-2 pitch. Van't Wout walked on four pitches to load the bases. During Berry's at bat, Banton scored on a passed ball to knot the game at two. Berry then reached on a FSU fielding error which plated Perry with the eventual winning run.

Wayne State senior pitcher Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont.) retired the Bulldogs 1-2-3 in the seventh for her 25th win of the season. She struck out seven and walked two while allowing just three hits and two runs (one earned).

Holly Bruntjens (12-8) went the distance in the circle for FSU and allowed six hits and three unearned runs as the Bulldogs committed six errors. She struck out four and walked two.
