COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Wayne State swimming and diving team is in third place through the first day of the NCAA Championships, hosted by the University of Missouri S&T. The Warriors have 76 points, trailing only Truman State (103) and North Dakota (84).
In Wednesday night's timed final of the 1000 free, Ashley St. Andrew (Grand Rapids, Mich./Jenison) placed third (10:06.67) and broke her own school record by over three seconds, while Catherine Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) finished 13th (10:32.21).
Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) bested her previous school mark by .18 seconds in the 200 individual medley, finishing 12th in the B final.
On the three-meter board, divers Erika Barczak (Williamston, Mich.) and Cassie Chetosky (Shelby Twp., Mich.) placed fourth (408.75) and seventh (387.40), respectively.
The 200 medley relay of Sara Franklin (Caro, Mich.), Hogle, Agata Zalewska (Swietochlowice, Poland), and Julie Danaher (Allen Park, Mich.) finished in seventh place with a time of 1:47.38, just .03 seconds above the school record-setting pace from the preliminary round.
Thursday morning's preliminary round will begin with the 200 free relay at 10:30 a.m. ET, and fans can follow the results live.
