Women's Swimming Wraps Up Regular Season at Home
Jan. 31, 2008
CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's swim team will wrap up the 2007-08 regular season with back-to-back home meets this weekend. On Friday, Feb. 1, the Musketeers will play host to the Ohio Bobcats at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 2, XU will host Butler as the Musketeers will take time to recognize five senior team members with a scheduled start time of 1 p.m. Both meets will take place in the O'Conner Sports Center. Xavier (5-1-1, 1-0-1 A-10) fell to Wright State, 159-99, in its last meet out. The loss was the Musketeers' first dual-meet defeat of the season. Juniors Alissa Schriner and Jill Winhusen placed first and second in the 200-yard butterfly touching the wall in 2:12.92 and 2:14.18, respectively. The Bobcats enter the week with a 10-1 record overall and a 5-1 mark in the Mid-American Conference. This past week the Bobcats defeated former conference foe Marshall, 182-131, and handed rival Miami a 186-114 loss. Ohio's dual-meet win against the RedHawks was its first in seven years (Jan. 27, 2001). The two wins increased Ohio's dual-meet winning streak to five and gave the Bobcats a perfect 7-0 record at home this season. Butler (1-10) will be seeing its first action in nearly two weeks when it travels to Cincinnati after falling short to Green Bay, 103-74, on Jan. 19. Five senior members of the Xavier men's and women's swim teams will be recognized on Saturday before the women's team's meet versus Butler. Seniors Lindsay Jackson, Matt Krouse, Mary Kuhnen, Nico Lilly and Brian Stromberg will be recognized for their contributions and accomplishments while members of the Xavier swim teams.
