Results

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University men's and women's track teams kicked off outdoor season at the UNLV Collegiate Classic. The meet was highlighted by two individual titles won. Freshman Caitlin Thomas recorded the top time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while senior Ben Milroy claimed high honors in the 5K race.

Thomas turned in a standout time of 12:27.26. Freshman Christina Schneider recorded an impressive third place finish in the 5K race, finishing in 19:12.37. Junior Becky Clark claimed second in the 800-meter run in 2:20.79 and third in the 1500-meter run in 4:43.16. Sophomore Bethany Moore finished quickly after Clark in both races taking sixth in the 800 at 2:24.68 and fifth in the 1500 at 4:54.67.

On the field Katie Anderson took sixth in the discuss throw at 27.18m.

On the men's side Milroy completed the 5,000-meter run in 15:47.94 while sophomore Drew Kaiser and freshman Tommy Kauffmann recorded second and fourth place finishes in the event in 15:55.44 and 16:24.39, respectively. Milroy also turned in a third place finish in the 1500-meter run in 4:07.27.

In the 800-meter run junior Clinton Womack took third in 1:56.31. Freshman Sam Lewis and Ben Nathan took sixth and seventh in the event in times of 1:58.13 and 1:58.46. Junior Luke Beuerlein took second in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:36.38. Senior Tony Matheus took third in the same event in 10:25.34 and Matthew Weingardt took fourth in 10:33.40.

XU will return to action March 22 when they compete at the Early Bird Relays hosted by Cincinnati.
