CINCINNATI - The Xavier University men's and women's track teams competed Saturday at the Early Bird Relays hosted by the University of Cincinnati. Junior Becky Clark brought home two individual titles, including a record-breaking finish in the 1,500-meter run, helping the women claimed third. Senior Ben Milroy earned individual high honors in the 5,000-meter run leading the men to a second place finish.
Clark took first in the 800-meter run in 2:19.43 while establishing a new school-record in the 1,500-meter run in 4:41.26. Katie Anderson also earned two spots in the record-books turning in a 34.28m in the discuss throw, and 27.49m in the javelin. Freshman Caitlin Thomas continued her success in the 3,000-meter steeplechase taking second in 11:54.78.
On the men's side, Milroy took first in 15:06.73 in the 5,000. Junior Luke Beuerlein had a standout finish in the 3,000-meter run taking second in 9:35. Sophomore Derek LeBlanc took first in the long jump in a distance of 6.34m and claimed second in the triple jump in 12.87m, which was a school-best distance. The men's 4x100-meter relay team of LeBlanc, freshman Ryan Ulmer and juniors Jeff Hileman and Dan Magness earned a first place finish in 46.06.
Freshmen Tommy Kauffmann, Joe Ryan, and Matt Riley ran personal-bests in the 5,000-meter run in 15:38.06 and 16:19.64, and 16:42.11 respectively
The Musketeers will return to action Saturday, March 29th when they compete at the Southern Ohio Cup in Oxford, Ohio.
