The X's and O's

• Xavier, 27-5 overall, is coming off a 74-65 win over Dayton yesterday in the Atlantic 10 Conference Quarterfinals.  Xavier, 14-2 in the 2008 Atlantic 10 Conference regular season race, won sole possession of its second straight Atlantic 10 regular season championship.

• Xavier, 27-5, now has the second-highest total for wins for an entire season (27) in Xavier history. The school record for most wins in an entire season belongs to the 1989-90 "Sweet 16" team (28-5).

• Xavier is 10th in the Associated Press Poll and 12th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. Xavier is ranked eighth in the latest RPI ratings for collegerpi.com (3-13-08).

• Xavier, 27-5, has secured its third straight 20-win season and its 11th 20-win season in the last 12 years.

• Xavier fourth-year head coach Sean Miller is the 2007-08 Atlantic 10 Conference Coach of the Year. The NABC named Miller this week as its 2008 NABC District 10 Coach of the Year. The USBWA has him as a candidate for National Coach of the Year. Miller is also on the list of 10 finalists for two national awards being sponsored by collegeinsider.com: the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year Award and the inaugural Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award.

• Xavier's seniors earned 2007-08 All-Atlantic 10 honors: Stanley Burrell (Defensive Player of the Year, All-Defensive Team and A-10 Third Team), Josh Duncan (Sixth Man of The Year and A-10 Second Team) and Drew Lavender (A-10 Second Team).

• Xavier senior Stanley Burrell, the Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year, has been named by Seth Davis (Sports Illustrated and CBS) as the Captain of his ninth annual "All-Glue" Team for his defensive leadership and doing all the little things to keep the team together. The honorees are in his Friday, March 14 column for SI.com.

• Xavier has won four Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Championships, including two of the last four and three out of the last six. XU won the tournament in 1998, 2002, 2004 and again in 2006. XU is now 21-8 all-time in A-10 Tournament play.

• Xavier has three players on its current roster that have won All-Atlantic 10 Championship honors during their careers. Seniors Stanley Burrell (2005), Josh Duncan (2006) and Drew Lavender (2007) have earned the honor in the last three A-10 championships.

• Xavier is the only team in NCAA Division I that has six players averaging in double figures: senior Josh Duncan (11.7 ppg.), sophomore Derrick Brown (10.9 ppg.), senior Drew Lavender (10.8 ppg.), juniors C.J. Anderson (10.7 ppg.) and B.J. Raymond (10.6 ppg.) and senior Stanley Burrell (10.0 ppg.).
