Xavier University Men's Basketball Awards Banquet Is Sold Out

April 3, 2008

CINCINNATI - -

Xavier University will honor head coach Sean Miller and the record-setting 2007-08 Musketeers at the annual awards banquet on Tuesday, April 15 before a sold-out crowd at the Duff Banquet Center at XU's Cintas Center. The University announced today that all the tickets have been sold for the event. A reservation deadline had been set of March 31.

Xavier, 30-7, secured its third straight 20-win season and its 11th 20-win season in the last 12 years. The 30 wins broke the previous school record of 28 set in the 1989-90 season. Xavier, 14-2 in the 2008 Atlantic 10 Conference regular season race, won sole possession of its second straight Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship.

There was much more than just regular season success and national rankings this season. The Musketeers continued to capture the attention of the nation by advancing to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight with wins over SEC Champion Georgia, Big Ten Regular Season Runner-Up Purdue and Big East stalwart West Virginia. Xavier is now one of only nine schools that have made the NCAA Tournament "Elite Eight" multiple times in the last five years:  North Carolina (3), UCLA (3), Kansas (3), Memphis (3), Xavier (2), Louisville (2), Texas (2), Florida (2) and Connecticut (2).  XU advanced to the "Elite Eight" for the first time in school history in 2004.
