CINCINNATI - Head soccer coach Dave Schureck has announced his latest recruiting class.  National Letters of Intent have been signed by Jimmy Meglio, Chesley (C.H.) Farmer IV, Justin Jarvis, and Brendan Rogers.

Jimmy Meglio - Scottsdale, Ariz. - Brophy College Prep - D/MF

High School: Captained the Brophy Varsity Soccer Team his senior year and led them to a 22-2-1 record, a Top 3 Ranking in Region IV by NSCAA National Poll, and a #9 National Ranking by NSCAA ... Won the Mountain Ridge Classic, the Desert Valley Region Championship, and the 5A-1 State Championship ... Was selected by Rise Magazine as an Arizona All-Area Player ... Selected as First Team All-Desert Valley Region, First Team All-State 5A, and the All-Arizona Team ... Awarded the AP Scholar Award from Collegeboard ... Honored with the 2007 Brophy Ethics Award.

Club Soccer: Played for Sockers FC and Sereno SC ... Ranked 6th in the nation with Sereno 90s and was a Region IV Finalist ... Placed in the top 1 percent of the nation in the Nike SPARQ Test.

 

Coach Schureck: "Jimmy is a terrific athlete and outstanding student!  He has the ability to start for us in the fall in either the back or in the midfield.  This kid brings a tremendous work ethic to every training session and game.  He is a leader that will be a great addition to Xavier and the soccer program."

 

Chesley (C.H.) Farmer IV - Dallas, Texas - Lake Highlands HS - D/MF

High School: Played four years of varsity soccer at Lake Highlands, serving as a captain his junior and senior seasons ... 2007 Defensive Player of the Year - District 9-5A ... Earned Lake Highlands' 2007 Character Counts Award ...

 

Club Soccer: Played eight years with Solar Soccer Club ... Premier League finalists in 2006 and '07 ... 2007 Score at the Shore Champions.

 

Coach Schureck: "Gritty, tenacious, and a winner.  C.H. brings these attributes to the field everyday on top of his soccer skill.  He shows great leadership qualities on the field and in the classroom.  C.H. could find himself in the back or in the midfield.  We can't wait to get him on the field."

 

 

Justin Jarvis - Heath, Texas - Rockwall HS - D

High School: Rockwall High School 4 year starter, 3 year team captain ... District 15-5A Newcomer of Year as a freshman ... 15-5A All-District 1st team & team Co-MVP as a sophomore ... District 10-5A Midfielder of Year and team Co-MVP as junior ... 5 year academic scholar. 

 

Club Soccer: Played center back for the #1 nationally ranked Dallas Texan 90 Red soccer club ... Champions of Walt Disney Soccer Showcase in 2005 and '07 ... Champion of Dallas Cup in 2006.

Coach Schureck:  "Justin is a classic centerback.  He is a tough defender, strong in the air, and is very vocal.  We look for Justin to be an organizer and ball winner.  He has played at a very high level in club and is used to playing for championships.  We expect him to bring his mentality and character here to Xavier."

 

Brendan Rogers - Commerce, Mich. - Walled Lake Northern HS - D

High School:    Four-year starter for Walled Lake Northern's varsity squad ... 2006 and '07 Varsity Team Assistant Captain ... Varsity Team Captain 2007 ... 2007 All Area Team and All State Second Team ... Team Co-MVP in 2005-'07 ... Named on Oakland County Top Players to Watch 2007 ...
