Musketeers Down Youngstown State 7-0

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University men's tennis team defeated Youngstown State 7-0 at the Eastern Hills Tennis Club in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday. With the win the Musketeers improve to 6-6 overall for the season while the Penguins fall to 1-4. Sophomore Chris Herrlinger defeated Scott Kathary in the No. 1 singles spot 6-3, 6-2 while junior Ra'ees Ismail took Ryan Trapp 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. Junior Mike Dieciuc showed up strong beating Christopger Leson of Youngstown 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles Herrlinger and junior Doug Matthews teamed up for an 8-5 win over Kathary and Trapp. Freshman Brian Starr and sophomore J.T. Torbeck defeated Christopher Leson and Diego Cerzosimo 8-3 while senior Brian Quinn and sophomore Anothony Palmenter worked together to take on Zach Landgraf and Maurice Rucker 8-3. XU will return to action Tuesday March 4 when they host A-10 rival Dayton. The match is set to start at 1:00 p.m. Results No. 2 Ra'ees Ismail (XU) def.
