Ta'Shia Phillips Establishes New Rebounding Record but XU Falls 68-58 to Dayton

CINCINNATI - Sophomore forward Amber Harris tallied the 23rd double-double of her career and freshman center Ta'Shia Phillips established a new single-season rebounding record but it was not enough as the Xavier University women's basketball team fell, 68-58, to Dayton on Wednesday evening at Cintas Center. With the loss, Xavier slips to 20-8 on the year and 10-3 in Atlantic 10 play. Harris scored 17 points and snared 12 rebounds on the night. She also blocked three shots and dished-out three assists in 35 minutes of action. Phillips, who corralled her record 304th rebound of the season early in the first half, scored 16 points and was one board shy of double-double. Sophomore forward April Philips scored nine points and snared 10 rebounds on the night.
Harris made a lay-up to make the score 52-50 at the 5:11 mark but The Musketeers would be unable to trim the deficit to any fewer than seven points the rest of the way as Xavier out-rebounded Kiki Lund and Nikki Oakland led the way for UD with 15 points.
